4 Ways to Camp SmarterWhen it comes to camping, you want everything to go smoothly. It pays to be prepared and have all the right equipment on hand. Becoming one with nature and heading out into the great outdoors doesn’t have to mean roughing it.

In this day and age there is a thing called ‘glamping’ (glam camping) where you can actually go camping glamorously! There are things you can do and bring to make your life easier. Read on for some camping hacks to make your life a lot easier.

1- Set Up Camp Before Dark

Whether you’re going on a weekend trip or a more substantial camping trip away always plan ahead. You don’t want to get caught out in the dark. Plan to arrive while you still have plenty of daylight. If you plan on setting up a tent you will need all the help you can get. Even though you might plan to get to your campsite before dark, you could get lost or stuck. In this case you want to be prepared, so ensure you pack some head torches, handheld torches and led lamps.

Always test your tent before you leave to ensure there are no problems. Always take a few extras like tent poles in case they break. During the day leave your windows slightly unzipped to reduce the amount of moisture inside the tent. Avoid leaving anything open overnight; you don’t want any unwanted visitors overnight.

2- Take Appropriate Bedding

There is no way you’re going to be able to sleep comfortably if you’re too cold or too hot. Make sure you choose to take appropriate bedding for the season. Sleeping bags are the ultimate camp buddy and you should never go camping without one!

A lightweight sleeping bag will do for the warmer months. During the winter time you’re going to need something more substantial. Always bring extra clothing in case you underestimate the cold. You can always strip down but you can’t put on what you don’t have. For a more comfortable sleeping experience also bring a mattress or camping bed to sleep on.

3- Bring Power With You

Being powered in any situation or location can be a lifesaver! Make sure you are prepared for your camping trip with camping generators. You no longer have to put up with loud and obnoxious generators. You can enjoy the peace and quiet of you camping trip with a silent inverter. They are perfect for giving power to items like your cell phone, a kettle and batteries. You’ll never want to go for camp without one again!

4- Dress Appropriately

Whether you are fashion conscious or not you need to plan out your clothing and shoes. Dress in weather and adventure appropriate clothing. You should wear loose fitting clothes that you can layer up. If it’s going to be hot remember to be sun smart and bring clothes to cover up, hats and sunscreen. If it’s going to be cold don’t forget your beanie, gloves, raincoats and thermal underwear.

Don’t forget about your feet! If you don’t have the appropriate footwear your feet could get cut up and infected. Wear closed toe shoes that have a moisture absorbing lining to protect your feet against the elements and Mother Nature. Always remember to keep clothing and shoes safely tucked away in your tent. You don’t want any surprises when putting them on.
